 A very interesting offering from Tristar Arms, the LR94 comes in three finishes - blued. color case hardened and nickel. We love lever guns at the AFD and we'd sure love to give this a try at the range. At first glance the rear site looks a little oversized compared to the usual buckhorn affair: buckhorns work great, have the classic look and are low profile to boot, which is our personal preference. With the seeming scarcity of .410 shells at your local ammo supplier, it may be worth buying your loads online through someone like Ammoseek.com which uses an algorithm to locate ammo supplies throughout the whole country. No indication on the Tristar WEBSITE where the LR94 is actually manufactured, though I suspect they're of Turkish origin and imported to the US by Tristar as with their other firearm offerings. If that's the case I think these are overpriced and I'd like to see them in the same ballpark as Rossi M92's, i.e. circa $650. Anyway, I look forward to handling one, some day soon.
 Henry's brand new offering and first foray into the sidearm arena promises revolver fans an heirloom piece in either a square or birdshead American walnut grip. This elegant new wheelgun is chambered in 357MAG/38SPL and will set you back $800-$900 (street price) at your favorite brick and mortar gunstore or online FFL. Okay, so it seems that domestically manufactured revolvers are around twice the price of those made in the Philippines or South America, but what you're getting is a "Made in America" firearm, from a reputable marque who'll stand by their work and make right any post-purchase issues - and that's not always the case when you buy a foreign product, as we all know. Henry is an outstanding company that pays attention to function, fit and finish with all their guns, and the Big Boy pictured promises to be no exception. Old school blueing compliments a pleasing profile and nostalgic ergonomics with an exposed ejector rod and classically fluted cylinder, and the brass trigger guard accents this genuinely handsome sixgun. Allegedly they're about to release 22LR and 22MAG versions too - however, I sincerely hope they're increasing the capacity to allow for the decreased ballistics of those little rounds v's the formidable 357MAG. If you had to use a 22 for self defense it would behoove you to triple-tap so as to equal the equivalent lead dispensed with a larger caliber, and don't let naysayers belittle this diminutive slug, it's a nasty little bullet that is more than ample for self defense if you put the practice in. In that regard, the good thing about 22LR is it's cheap to buy and banging off a hundred rounds a week at the range will cost you ten bucks tops. I gotta say I really like the looks of it and wish I had the means to grab one hot off the press. Keep your eye on the Henry site for a dedicated specs page but these are shipping now so if you get a hankering, there won't be long to wait. WEBSITE.
