The Ruger Wrangler has now been released in black, silver and bronze Cerakote with the original Peacemaker-length 7.5" barrel. This is Ruger's no-frills rimfire single-action-only revolver, and about the cheapest handgun they offer, but it still looks good in the classic cowboy way. No word yet on the longevity of certain internal MIM parts but time (and Youtube reviews) will undoubtedly tell. Hopefully fluted cylinders are in the future of this little six-shooter, plus too an eight shot cylinder to make it that much more useful on the belt, but, meantime I bet they're selling these faster than hot donuts!  It holds 11 x 3" shells, has an 18.5" barrel with an overall length of just 26", has a carry handle and weighs only 5.4lbs! Short of being covered in little Luis Vuitton icons, what's not to love? The blurb from the KelTec WEBSITE says it all:
Here’s another bullpup for your collection and this one happens to be chambered for the whole family. This fun lil’ shotty turns heads and saves shoulders. The KSG line now has a sidekick with no kick, and we called it the KSG410. Hunt, train, plink with your friends or all the above. This pump-action shotgun does it all. The KSG410 comes in at just over an inch and a half wide. 1.7 inches to be exact. Although still wider than a communist’s brain, our engineers managed to stuff a barrel and two magazine tubes into that tiny space. This little beauty weighs in at only 5.4 pounds, so not only is the KSG410 slim, it’s incredibly light. Like her big brothers, KSG and KS7, this gal is 26.1 inches long, keeping all that excessive paperwork at bay. We haven't held one in person but features are highlighted in the diagram below. Weight is around 5.75lb and length a mere 36" so all-in-all it's pretty compact. Magazines are interchangeable with the POF Phoenix 9MM PCC (10rnd or 20rnd). Fit and finish looks quality and befitting of it's hefty price tag - price will inevitably be cheaper on line and may even lower if the rifle proves popular. There's a sense other calibers will be available going forward - a 45ACP would be real nice - and the threaded barrel makes ample sense for that old school subsonic round too. The lever action is probably the most proven and reliable of all 'repeaters' and the Tombstone is a long overdue (and very welcome) redux of the original assault rifle. As a fan of the Winchester 1892 and Marlin's 1895, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to handle and shoot one of these...btw that's a not-so-subtle hint to POF that we'd love a T&E unit? This from their WEBSITE.   Not yet displayed on the Henry website, the Homesteader is Henry's inaugural foray into an increasingly saturated 9MM PCC market. Because of the ballistic limitations of the 9MM pistol cartridge, I think 9MM PCC's should optimally be lightweight and compact (or compactible), and thusly easily stuffed in a backpack out of sight: in this regard the KelTec Sub2000 is (in my opinion) the benchmark. Virtually every other 9MM pistol caliber carbine (carbine = 16" barrel) is forfeiting stowability and ballistic excellence for ammo accessibility/affordability. Extensive testing has disproven the rumor that a 9MM round from a 16" barrel is as good as a 357MAG from a 16" barrel. It's now a trope, but it simply isn't true. That's like saying a 22LR is ballistically comparable to a .223 round - diameter of projectile does not determine velocity and energy foot pounds. The 357MAG is a far superior round with around 75% incapacitation from a single shot versus 47% for 9MM. So if you're looking for stopping power, Henry have several impressive 357MAG lever action rifles available.
All that being said, the Henry Homesteader is a handsome carbine with nice wood furniture, a tang safety (my personal favorite), a threaded barrel, Skinner-type sights, a five-round capacity with options for 10 round mags and an adapter for Glock/S&W M&P mag compatibility. The bolt handle can be installed on either side and the bolt release is ambidextrous (i.e. there is one on either side of the trigger guard). True to it's moniker, this would be a perfect one rifle for the homesteader with little or no firearm experience who doesn't want the fuss or recoil of a more formidable firearm. 9MM ammo is by and large cheap and after a couple of boxes any new owner will have reasonable familiarity and competence with this smart wee carbine. I have a great fondness for Henry rifles and Mr Imperato himself: they have made consistently good longarms and listened eagerly to their customers since their rebirth in 1996, and their mantra of "Made in America, or Not Made at All" is an example to follow in this era of cheap overseas manufacturing and profiteering. Keep your eyes on their WEBSITE for pricing and availability.  Though I've always felt the Chiappa Little Badgers were a brilliant, simple and potentially necessary addition to any bugout bag, their construction quality is inconsistent. Some people got flawless tack-drivers and others (like myself) got lemons. Because I didn't have time, it was a full six months before I got it out into the woods to shoot it. Despite attaching a suppressor, the report from the breach instantly deafened my right ear and with visible expansion of the brass shells, it didn't take me long to figure out they'd over-drilled the breach chamber. Resultantly, accuracy was horrible. I promptly called the customer service number on their website only to be told the six month warranty had expired: they would fix it but only at full cost to me. Considering I'd only paid $125 for the rifle I figured it wasn't worth fixing as they obviously weren't confident enough to stand behind their workmanship for the lifetime of the product. It has definitely made me worry about the longevity of the materials used (i.e die-cast zinc alloy, plastic etc) and the inherent safety (or lack thereof) for other Badger customers. That aside, this new iteration definitely covers a couple of the improvements I'd have opted for, but they should do away with the crap plastic M1 style sights and the plastic pic rails as neither of these features make the rifle more accurate nor user friendly. If they simply extend and groove the receiver, owners could add a sight of their choice and providing Chiappa make their barrels/breaches true, it'll shoot straight and serve as the truly useful survival weapon it's intended to be. The new Xtreme has greater foldability than the original Badger and comes with a plastic carry tube which is hopefully also waterproof and floats?! Visit their WEBSITE here.
 Finally, Rossi aesthetics have been revived via this gorgeous satin stainless redux with a three inch barrel and 6-shot cylinder. Forged under license by Taurus Arms in Brazil, it retains all the elegance of the Rossi wheelguns from bygone eras. Bigger brothers come with 4" and 6" barrels (and cost more) for those wanting more pointability. Prettier and cheaper than most other revolvers on the current market, revolver fans will be rejoicing!
